After visiting Corrour Station earlier in the year it was always our intention to return to the area to circumnavigate Loch Ossian. So rather than take the train we left the car at the side of the road at Moy Lodge, just to the west of the head of Loch Laggan. From there we cycled along good land rover tracks to the impressive modern structure that is Corrour Lodge. The lodge itself is completely enclosed by a security fence and we cycled on the path to the west of Loch Ossian before detouring off to the station for a quick look. We then returned along the eastern shore line, past the Youth Hostel to eventually reach the lodge from where we re-traced our wheel tracks back to our starting point. The route out to the lodge was predominantly uphill so this made for a fast descent on the homeward leg once we had climbed up from Strathossian House.
All in all our route covered 31miles and included a total ascent of 623m, the weather was mixed, we had mist and rain at times with the sun breaking through once we reached the southern end of the loch. I would recommend this route as it gets you out in the wilderness and in general the tracks are good with nothing too technical but because of the climbing required and the distance to be covered a fairly high level of fitness will be required to fully appreciate the route.
